This is one of the big projects I worked on as an intern with the City of Austin Innovation Office - getting Bloomfire set up before the City Council Orientation. Hopefully we will see it being used often and really helping people make the most of the information!

Timeline and Digital Collections
We wanted to have some online content to go along with the exhibit - both access to the scans of the documents used as well as an overall timeline of WWI.
Scans available here.
The timeline is here.
Mood Hall then - in my last post I have a photo from almost this angle.
Below is one of my favorites (cropped):
On a sidenote, today was pretty much "Fun with DOS" day when I was trying to rename some files. Some of the early scans from the the grant digitization project had been named before we set up a naming scheme and I went back to make sure everything matched. I could have gone line by line and copy-pasted but it seemed a little slow - I ended up using the PowerShell method from here. I haven't used shell commands in a while and it was nice to get some practice in and save myself some time.

Pictures of the Exhibit
Much belated!
Details of documents and photos available here: Southwestern Special Collections: Digital Collections
These are from October 3rd.
The following are from setting it up on October 2nd:
And these are from September 26th. The first two are from when I tried to recreate the angle of some of the photographs we used, but there are too many trees now to do an easy comparison.
The picture above is the angle that had the courthouse in the background in 1918.
Mood Hall was used as the barracks for the SATC.

World War I Exhibit
I've been working on a WWI exhibit as part of my practicum at Southwestern University and last week I got the initial layout designed. I spent some time looking for articles from the student newspaper (The Megaphone) that I knew I wanted to use, as well as some crops from the yearbook, the Sou'wester.

Grant Writing I
I went to a Grant Writing class (one of the UT Informal courses) earlier today and it was a great experience! The instructor, Ike West, brought up a lot of points that I never would have thought of on my own and she made the process of grant writing seem a lot less mysterious.
